If you haven't heard of etsy.com, then you should check it out. It is the biggest up and coming website for fashion lovers & creatives all over the country (& the world!). The website features shops owned by people from all over the globe that specialize in handmade goods. The items tend to be on the more expensive side, but that's because the shop owners are charging you for the labor put into making the item.
(& everything is made with love!) What's great about Etsy is that you can buy yourself a unique one-of-a-kind item that is made by someone & people will ask you where you got it, but they can't go out & get the same thing! Etsy is virtually an online boutique. Handmade goods seem to be the hot commodity these days because everything at forever 21 & H&M are mass merchandise. You might go out & see 5 other girls wearing the same top as you. That's one of the downsides of 21st century fashion, is that everything is mass produced. Because the majority of us fall under the category of 'mass market' goods have to be produced rapidly & sold on the cheap so that companies can turn a profit faster. What I love about Etsy is that uniqueness & the creative aspect of it. Everyone who owns a shop on the site takes pride in the items they make & sell & really do love creating things. Ever since I found out about the site, I have been buying things & just browsing it for new & different items. I have always taken pride in being different, because i'm weird, & weird is different. & being called weird is a compliment because if we were all the same that would be really boring! Embrace your weirdness (alien emoji).
But anyway, if you haven't, check it out.
I'm hoping to open up a shop of my own sometime soon. I just have to figure out how to set up paypal & everything & I need to have some things to actually sell on the shop!
If you're new to Etsy & wondering where to start looking, well they have everything from home items to customized shoes & snapbacks, bags & blankets. That's another thing that is really popular these days: customization. We have all heard of Lily Pulitzer & monograms. That joined the mass market train too & is now going to be available at Target stores everywhere. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. I love customized things because it really gives you that sense of individuality. We all want to be seen as an individual not as 'the same as everyone else'. That's one of the things that fashion does is it gives us a chance to show who WE are. We can express our unique preferences & style through the way that we dress.

Some of the things i've ordered on etsy are snapbacks & jewelry..
They have a lot of vintage stuff & really cool handmade things too.
